Book the appointment first
For embassy visas, the slot is the real constraint — not the fare. Establish the earliest date you can be seen, then plan the trip around it. Summer Schengen slots vanish from February.
Make the file consistent
Flights, hotels, insurance and the cover letter must agree to the day. Mismatched dates cause more refusals than thin balances. Consistency beats volume every time.
Show your ties to India
A job, a business, property or family you are returning to. Without evidence of a reason to come back, a tourist visa reads as an intent to overstay.
Keep funds steady, not sudden
A balance that appears the week before the appointment looks arranged. Consulates want a steady history — maintain it over months, not days.
Write a specific cover letter
State who you are, why this trip, who is paying and when you return — dated and signed. A one-line purpose invites doubt.
Declare prior refusals
An earlier refusal does not disqualify you, but hiding it does. Declare it and answer it directly, with what has changed since.
