Golden Triangle

Package ID: TG-MS-001008

Delhi · Agra · Jaipur — The single best introduction to North India, and the reason it endures is simple geography: Delhi, Agra and Jaipur sit close enough to link in under a week without a single punishing drive. We run it Delhi–Agra–Jaipur rather than looping back, put the Taj Mahal at sunrise when it is genuinely at its best and least crowded, and break the Agra-to-Jaipur leg at Fatehpur Sikri so a travelling day becomes a highlight. It is short, it is famous, and done at the right hours it more than earns the reputation.

Day by day

Complete itinerary

Tap any day to expand. Drive distances and times are realistic approximations, stated up front and traffic-dependent — never hidden.

Day 1 Arrive DelhiAirport → Hotel
  1. Private transfer & hotel check-in
  2. Old Delhi — Jama Masjid & Chandni Chowk by rickshaw
  3. India Gate & the New Delhi government quarter
  4. Dinner & overnight in Delhi

The day flexes around your arrival time. Land early and we start with Old Delhi in the afternoon; land late and it simply moves to the next morning. Either way the point is a gentle first day — the Mughal old city from a cycle-rickshaw, then the wide Lutyens avenues of New Delhi as a deliberate contrast.

✓ Jama Masjid✓ Chandni Chowk✓ India Gate

🛏 Overnight: Delhi

Day 2 Delhi sightseeingQutub → Humayun's Tomb
  1. Qutub Minar complex
  2. Humayun's Tomb — the Taj's architectural ancestor
  3. Lunch
  4. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib & Lodhi Garden walk
  5. Free evening — optional Dilli Haat for crafts

A full day for the monuments that need daylight and space. Humayun's Tomb is worth lingering over precisely because you meet its grander descendant tomorrow — the Mughal garden-tomb idea that the Taj later perfected. The afternoon is lighter by design, so you reach Agra fresh rather than frazzled.

✓ Qutub Minar✓ Humayun's Tomb✓ Bangla Sahib✓ Lodhi Garden

  2. Arrive Agra & check-in
  3. Agra Fort — the red-sandstone Mughal seat
  4. Mehtab Bagh — the Taj across the river at sunset
  5. Overnight in Agra

The expressway makes this an easy morning; the train is faster still if you'd rather. We keep the Taj itself for sunrise tomorrow and use this afternoon for Agra Fort and, at dusk, the Mehtab Bagh garden directly across the Yamuna — the one place you see the whole monument, uncrowded, glowing in the last light. It is the right appetiser for the morning.

  3. Depart for Jaipur
  4. Fatehpur Sikri — the abandoned Mughal capital
  5. Arrive Jaipur & check-in
  6. Evening at leisure

Sunrise at the Taj Mahal is not a cliché to be endured — it is the difference between a photograph and the actual thing. At six the marble is pink and the crowds thin; by ten it is white glare and queues. We build the whole day around that early gate, then break the drive to Jaipur at Fatehpur Sikri, Akbar's perfectly preserved ghost city, so the transfer day carries a genuine highlight rather than just kilometres.

✓ Taj Mahal at sunrise✓ Fatehpur Sikri✓ Arrive the Pink City

🛏 Overnight: Jaipur

Day 5 Jaipur — Amber & the Pink CityAmber → City Palace
  1. Amber Fort at opening
  2. Jal Mahal photo stop & Panna Meena stepwell
  3. Lunch
  4. City Palace & Jantar Mantar
  5. Hawa Mahal from the café opposite
  6. Bazaar walk — Johari & Bapu

A full Jaipur day, timed the sensible way: Amber Fort first thing before the sun and the crowds, the city palaces in the softer afternoon light, and Hawa Mahal kept for golden hour. The bazaars close the day — gemstones on Johari, textiles and juttis on Bapu — with a guide who knows a fair price from a tourist one.

Questions

Package FAQs

Why run it Delhi–Agra–Jaipur and not a loop?

Because it never doubles back. You end in Jaipur, fly out from there, and every drive is a forward step. Looping back to Delhi wastes the better part of a day.

Is five nights enough for the Golden Triangle?

Comfortably, at this pace — two nights Delhi, one Agra, two Jaipur. Add a night if you want a slower Delhi or to fold in Ranthambore for tigers.

Can we add Ranthambore or Varanasi?

Yes. Ranthambore (tigers) slots in after Jaipur with two extra nights; Varanasi is a short flight and a very different, spiritual add-on. We will map it to your dates.

Is the Taj sunrise really necessary?

Not compulsory, but strongly recommended — dawn light and thin crowds transform the visit. If mornings are hard we can do a late-afternoon slot instead.

Train or car between the cities?

Either. The Vande Bharat / Gatimaan to Agra is fast and comfortable; the private car gives you Fatehpur Sikri and Abhaneri on the Jaipur leg. Many travellers mix the two.
