Kashmir Valley
Package ID: TG-IN-001206
Srinagar · Gulmarg · Pahalgam — The Vale of Kashmir on a comfortable loop out of Srinagar — a night on a Dal Lake houseboat, the meadows and gondola at Gulmarg, and the Lidder valley at Pahalgam, returning each time to base. We keep day trips as day trips rather than dragging your luggage across the valley, and we build in the Mughal gardens and the shikara ride that are the quiet soul of Srinagar. Distances are modest; the scenery does the heavy lifting. As with any hill region, high-point excursions such as Gulmarg's upper gondola and Pahalgam's Betaab/Aru valleys depend on weather and local conditions, which we check honestly for your dates.

Complete itinerary
Tap any day to expand. Drive distances and times are realistic approximations, stated up front and traffic-dependent — never hidden.
Day 1 Arrive Srinagar — Dal LakeAirport → Houseboat
- Transfer to your Dal Lake houseboat
- Lunch aboard
- Shikara ride — the floating gardens & lake life
- Sunset over the Dal & overnight aboard
Kashmir opens gently: straight to a carved-cedar houseboat moored on the Dal, and in the late afternoon the shikara ride that is the definitive Srinagar experience — gliding past the floating vegetable gardens, the lotus and the lake's own water-borne life as the light goes gold. A restful first night on the water.
🛏 Overnight: Srinagar (houseboat)
Day 2 Srinagar — Mughal gardensGardens → Shankaracharya
- Nishat Bagh & Shalimar Bagh — the Mughal terraced gardens
- Chashme Shahi & the tulip garden (in season)
- Lunch
- Shankaracharya Temple hilltop & Hazratbal
- Move to a lakeside hotel for the next nights
The Mughal gardens are the day — Nishat and Shalimar rising in terraces to the mountains, laid out four centuries ago and still among the loveliest in India. If you travel in April the Indira Gandhi tulip garden below Zabarwan is extraordinary and we time it in. Shankaracharya's hilltop gives the whole-valley view.

- Gulmarg Gondola — phase 1 to Kongdoori (phase 2 to Apharwat weather permitting)
- Meadow walk / pony ride & lunch
- Return to Srinagar
Gulmarg, the "meadow of flowers," carries one of the world's highest cable cars. Phase one to Kongdoori runs in most conditions; phase two up to Apharwat, with the snow and the big Himalayan panorama, depends on weather and the daily queue — we tell you the real odds rather than sell you a guarantee. In summer it is alpine meadow and pony rides; in winter, serious snow. A day trip, so you sleep back on the Dal.

Pahalgam's famous side valleys, Betaab and Aru, are reached by local union taxis only (a genuine local rule, not an upsell); we arrange them and are upfront that it is a separate local cost.

Good to know
Important information
- •Some excursions — Pahalgam's Betaab/Aru/Chandanwari valleys — are by local union taxi only, at a separate local cost; this is a genuine local rule, not an add-on we invent.
- •Gulmarg gondola phase 2 (Apharwat) and other high points depend on weather and daily queues; we set honest expectations.
- •Airport security in Srinagar is thorough — we allow extra time for departure.
- •The valley is cool even in summer; carry layers. Winter (Dec–Feb) is deep snow and needs proper gear.
- •We advise clients to check current travel advisories for their dates; itineraries are planned within established tourist areas.

Questions
Package FAQs
Is a houseboat night worth it?
Yes — it is the signature Kashmir experience and genuinely comfortable on a deluxe boat. We pair one houseboat night with lakeside hotel nights so you get the best of both.
Why is Pahalgam sightseeing extra?
Because the side valleys (Betaab, Aru, Chandanwari) can only be entered by local union taxis by rule — private cars aren't allowed up. We arrange them and are upfront that it is a separate, locally-fixed cost.
Will the Gulmarg gondola definitely run to the top?
Phase one usually runs; phase two to Apharwat depends on weather and the daily queue and is never guaranteed. We give you the honest odds for your season rather than a promise.
When is the best time — and when for snow?
April–October is green and mild, April tulips a highlight. December–February is snow season at Gulmarg and Pahalgam, beautiful but cold and with some road-weather risk. We match dates to what you want.
Is it suitable for families and honeymooners?
Both, very much so. Short drives, restful base nights and spectacular scenery. We can soften the pace for young children or older parents on request.
